Our 6 hour live, online course equips exercise and healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to deliver Parkinson’s-specific exercise, grounded in the latest scientific and medical guidelines. You’ll learn the recommended exercise doses, key elements that tailor exercises to Parkinson’s, and practical tips for leading group or one-on-one sessions. Whether you’re working with beginners or experienced clients, this course will empower you to make a meaningful impact on their symptoms and disease progression.
The Parkinson’s Pro Course is delivered in 3 modules

Module 1 – Knowledge Is Power
Understanding Parkinson’s and How Exercise Makes a Difference
In this foundational module, we explore what Parkinson’s disease is, how it manifests, and the most common symptoms exercise professionals need to recognize. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the neurological underpinnings of Parkinson’s, how it affects movement, and why specific interventions are essential. By the end of this module, you’ll also know how and why exercise plays a critical role in managing Parkinson’s symptoms, improving motor control, and enhancing quality of life.

Module 2 – Exercise is Medicine
Applying Current Parkinson’s-Specific Exercise Guidelines
This module dives into the science behind the “Exercise is Medicine” philosophy, detailing the latest evidence-based recommendations for exercise in Parkinson’s treatment. Learn the specific types, intensities, and frequencies of exercises that make the biggest difference for people living with Parkinson’s. We’ll also cover the elements that transform general exercise into Parkinson’s-specific workouts, ensuring you’re equipped to tailor sessions that target mobility, strength, and balance effectively.

Module 3 – Exercise for Life
Breaking Barriers and Building Long-Term Strategies
People with Parkinson’s face unique barriers to exercise, and in this module, we help you understand and overcome them. From motivation and physical limitations to practical considerations in session planning, you’ll learn how to design inclusive and adaptive programs. You’ll also explore when and how to refer clients to other healthcare professionals and specialists. This module ensures you’re prepared to provide long-term, impactful support and guidance to your clients as they navigate their exercise journey.
Course Prerequisites
This course is designed for exercise professionals with existing qualifications in long-term conditions (Level 3 Exercise Referral or equivalent) and registered healthcare professionals* to build on their individual areas of expertise/coaching and apply the principles of Parkinson’s specific exercise to their methods.
